Newark Future is all about giving Newark the homes, jobs and community facilities it needs to become an even better place to live and work.
Newark and Sherwood was awarded Growth Point status by the Government in 2006. This status has enabled the District to benefit from Government funds to help support growth that would not ordinarily be available to it - the new Government has confirmed its commitment to safeguarding this growth funding programme . Newark & Sherwood’s Core Strategy provides a planning framework for the Growth Point, and as one of three strategic sites, land south of Newark will help deliver this growth by providing at least 3150 homes by 2026 along with a new southern link road, employment land, two local centres, public open space and a range of local facilities.

An outline planning application was submitted on land south of Newark to Newark and Sherwood District Council in November 2010. A separate smaller full planning application for a new roundabout on the dualled A46 at Farndon to provide access to the southern link road was approved by the Council Planning Committee on the 15th March 2011.
